Descriptions of Departments

Laura  WestergardLaura Westergard, RN, Director of Nursing

Nursing Department: Our experienced nursing staff provides wonderful skilled and intermediate care 24 hours per day, seven days per week. A licensed nurse is on duty at all times. There are always physicians on call as well. Our nursing staff is dedicated to providing quality care, and every member of our team is a dedicated professional who is attuned to our patients’ entire well-being and goes the extra mile to ensure a positive frame of mind in conjunction with healing the body. Our staff has chosen to work in long term care because we truly enjoy being able to make a difference in improving the lives of our residents each and every day.

Pleasant View Home contracts with a number of other individuals and groups who work with us to help ensure and enhance the quality of nursing care our residents receive. Some of these individuals and/or groups currently servicing our residents are:

  • Our Medical Director is Mark Schultz, DO. He makes regular visits here to see residents who are his patients, and he also works with our quality improvement committee. In additional to our medical director we have several other primary care physicians who visit our residents on a routine basis.
  • Our Registered Pharmacist visits here each month and reviews each resident's medication records and then makes recommendations as needed.
  • We have a rehab company that supplies us with physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy professionals who work with our residents in our facility as needed.
  • Our Podiatrist visits every 3 months to give foot care to our residents as needed.

Kindred Hospice, Unity Point Hospice and St. Croix Hospice groups assist our staff in caring for residents who are experiencing a terminal illness.

Darlene AllenDarlene Allen, Dietary Manager

Dietary: The Dietary Manager is in charge of the Dietary Department. Dietary Manager works closely with our dietitian and our nursing staff for our daily menus which are planned on a 4 week rotating cycle; also works closely with our Dietician for those residents who may have special food needs, and keeps a visual eye on residents with any weight issues. We follow a liberal diet for our residents to meet their needs.

Carol PetersonCarol Peterson, Activity Coordinator/ Social Services Designee

Activities: It is our goal at Pleasant View Home, to provide mentally stimulating, physically challenging, spiritually fulfilling, and socially inviting events to the residents of our home. We work through our activity programming to attain a home-like atmosphere where the residents’ interests continue from their home to our home and where residents continue to be able to lead a productive and happy life. The residents pick the majority of the activities that we provide. Religious services, Bible study, word games, Bingo, intergenerational programming, music programs, baking, and special parties are just a few services we offer at Pleasant View Home for all residents. 1:1 are provided to those residents when applicable.

The Buisness Office Manager is the person who works with accounts receivable, accounts payable, Medicare, Medicaid, payroll, and many other duties. Should you have a billing questions, the Buisness Office Manager is the person to visit with.

Fred  EhlersFred Ehlers, Maintenance, Maintenance

Maintenance: Our maintenance staff person works 3 days a week. Maintenance does a wonderful job of keeping us mechanically going and keeping the residents happy! Maintenance addresses building needs, equipment repair and maintenance, minor plumbing, and some ground work. Maintenance helps residents hang photos in their rooms, etc. Routine checks of fire protection devices are another large part of his job.

Housekeeping/Environmental Services: Our department strives of offer a clean, safe, and home-like atmosphere for our residents. The cleanliness and odor control are a top priority at our facility. Laundry: At Pleasant View Home, our first priority is our residents! As a laundry department, we want our residents to look their best; and we do that by making sure they have crisp, clean clothes. In addition, we also launder our bed linens in house. We process 35-40 loads of laundry every day of the week.
